Down for Whatever
Movie Review: Down for Whatever ( Family Loyalty Crime Thriller )
Down for Whatever is a drama and thriller film of 2018 where a fast-working female police officer, named Tracy, suddenly becomes tangled up in a strong but unfamiliar family dilemma. The film on the actual topic of family bonds, crime, and an individual’s ethic directed by Timothy Wayne Folsome. Over the top cat-and-mouse game meeting family tension and action-based sequences make Down for Whatever an interesting suspense novel.
Devin is young, single and very motivated LAPD officer, also committed to her career and to her husband. Both are idealistic, both want to work for justice and they appear to be together that they are a beautiful coupled with great promising future. However, life opens terrible surprises for Tracy whose two junior sisters Denise and Sonya involved a criminal organization, and whose activities are linked with a gangster brother. Her sisters were taken away from her during some of her childhood and now they have taken delved into the criminal activities she has vowed to end. Tracy wrestles again in cases that challenges her love, loyalty and dedication to her work.
More on, the situations prevailing in the movie is quite well in portraying the conflict in-between the value in Tracy as a police officer and that of a sister mother to her sisters. It is such a moral conflict and the factor that keeps the audience engaged. As the plot unfolds, Tracy faces tough choices: whether to continue disowning her sisters or help them come out of the laden path they had chosen for themselves. The longer her investigation takes her into her sisters’ lives, the many secrets he finds and the many suspenseful scenes and dramatic scenes that are produced.
Another benefit of Down for Whatever is the set cast. Actress LeToya Luckett portrays the character Tracy with passion, who has conflicts within herself and is committed. The rest of the cast is equally solid; Bre-Z’s portrayal of Denise, Imani Hakim’s portrayal of Sonya express the feelings of characters that feel under pressure and trapped into situations. The reasons of both sisters are well elaborated and presented from a social perspective which provides perspectives on how circumstances and decisions affect people’s lives. It is cast chemistry that makes the viewers sense, for all that is beautiful and at the same time bitter and complicated in humanity’s familial relationships.
Despite the direction by Timothy Wayne Folsome and the screenplay the movie has a consistent speed although some watchers may predict some scenes. It uses such tropes as family drama and eventual crime story that might not create a cinematic innovation, though it peers a skilled realization. Their depiction of tension reaches its highest peak every time Tracy is in a testing emotional situation. The conflict of interests in her interaction with her sisters brings out the theme of family huge by portraying conflicts of personal ethical responsibilities and the loyalty to family.
The single probably the most major disadvantage of the whole movie, which is important to mention is that the movie contains an attempt to tell too many stories, although the time for the film’s showing is rather limited. This often leads to the fact that some events are presented too briefly. There should have been a further development of certain characters to create that much richer experience ; the histories of Denise and Sonya. However making an effort to meet the expectation of an action packed drama with female lead, for the sought, ‘Down for Whatever’ will do.
In general it is fun to watch down for whatever as the movie has the right balance of suspense and drama. The story is simple going and one is easily able to understand the events rolled out in the play. Half a life is between the rights and duties of a family circle. It isn’t very inventive, and may not offer audiences anything new, but it does give them a rather coherent story and mostly charming actors. For people who interested in crime dramas films with special focus on family elements it is recommended to watch this film.
